Many applications on the iPhone can assist professionals with organizational duties like scheduling, purchasing and financial planning. If you ever need to record a discussion during a business meeting or a job interview, you can make use of the iPhone’s “Voice Memos” app. The built-in mobile software uses the iPhone’s internal microphone to capture ambient noise and encode it as an M4A file. Although voice memos are stored on the device’s internal memory, they copy to your PC whenever you perform a sync with iTunes. Once you sync the device with iTunes, you can use the application to find the default saving location for the audio.

How long can you record voice memos for?
The app you use will determine how long you can record and how successfully you can sync or process longer audio files. Native apps such as Voice Recorder and Voice Memo have been reported by some users as stopping after 30 minutes or having difficulty processing files that were over an hour long.

How long can I record a voice memo?
Answer: A: I believe iOS 4.0 removed the limit, which was somewhere around ~33 minutes or so. I believe it was limited by file size more than recording length and thus would vary from about 30 minutes to around 37 minutes max. I know you can go to at least two hours now, but I have not tested recently since iOS 4.2.1.

The Apple Lossless files are about 2.4MB per minute; the WAV files about 5.2MB and 2.7MB, respectively. Voice Memo is a great way to use your iPod to record lectures or meetings—but just make sure you have enough free space, since at the largest file size, you'll need about 300MB per hour.

There are a number of factors that can influence it, but on the video camera I use, when recording at 720p, you get about 20 minutes HD footage, per GB of memory. So on a 32GB card you'd get about 10 hours 40 minutes.
